In a world captivated by the allure of cutting-edge gadgets, Brilliant Labs, a bold Singapore-based startup, has emerged with its latest innovation, Frame. Departing from the conventional design of augmented reality devices, Frame promises to revolutionize human-AI interaction with its sleek form factor and powerful capabilities.
Today marks the unveiling of Frame, a pair of lightweight AR glasses powered by a sophisticated multimodal AI assistant named Noa. Behind this product stays John Hanke, CEO of Niantic, the creator of Pokémon GO. While Brilliant Labs has chosen to keep the exact figure undisclosed, it's clear that Hanke's investment signifies a vote of confidence in Frame's potential.
At the heart of Frame lies Noa, an AI assistant equipped with an array of advanced functionalities. Beyond traditional voice commands, Noa boasts visual processing, image generation, and translation capabilities, leveraging state-of-the-art AI models from industry leaders. With a resolution of 640 x 400, Frame's lenses provide a crisp display for videos and photos, enhancing the user experience.
Frame's one of the most important features for now is helping people in their everyday life. Whether shopping at a mall or exploring new surroundings, Noa can seamlessly retrieve online prices, offer translations, and provide valuable information on the fly, all through intuitive voice commands.
Aravind Srinivas, CEO and founder of Perplexity, expressed his excitement about integrating their real-time answer engine into Frame, highlighting the pivotal role of wearables in shaping the future of human-AI interaction.
While Frame currently relies on a smartphone for access to AI models, Brilliant Labs envisions a future where lightweight machine-learning models are embedded directly into the glasses, eliminating the need for external devices. With Frame, developers will continue to enjoy access to a wealth of resources, including open-source codebases and hardware schematics, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
In a departure from bulky AR devices, Frame offers a sleek, everyday wearable design with prescription lenses, weighing a mere 39 grams.

Available for preorder at $349, the same price as Monocle, Frame is poised to redefine the landscape of augmented reality. Shipping in April, Frame represents a culmination of Brilliant Labs' vision and determination to create technology that seamlessly integrates into our daily lives. Since its inception in 2019, Brilliant Labs has garnered support from an impressive lineup of angel investors, including Brendan Iribe, Adam Cheyer, Eric Migicovsky, and now, John Hanke. Having a financing in $6 million, Brilliant Labs is well-positioned to lead the charge in shaping the future of augmented reality.
So, as Brilliant Labs continues to refine and enhance its technology, the potential for Frame to impact our daily lives becomes increasingly evident. With Frame, Brilliant Labs is not just shaping the future of augmented reality, but also сould be a great competitor for the recently sensational Apple Vision Pro.
As the company puts it, the glasses are the “homage to the groundbreaking innovations and ideas introduced by figures of history including John Lennon, Steve Jobs and Gandhi.”
