Researchers at REMspace achieved a historic breakthrough by enabling two people to communicate in their sleep for the first time, opening up new possibilities for dream-based interaction.
Researchers at the California-based startup REMspace have made history by enabling two people to communicate in their sleep for the first time. This groundbreaking experiment took place on September 24, 2024, and marks a major step forward in dream science.
Using special equipment and a new language called "Remmyo," the participants were able to exchange messages while in lucid dreams. Lucid dreaming is when a person becomes aware they are dreaming and can often control what happens. In this case, the researchers monitored the participants’ brain activity remotely to track the progress.
During the experiment, one person received a random word through earbuds while in a lucid dream. They repeated the word in the dream, and it was captured. Eight minutes later, the second person, who was also in a lucid dream, received the message and confirmed it after waking up. This marked the first time that people have ever exchanged messages in their sleep.
Michael Raduga, CEO and founder of REMspace, called the breakthrough a turning point: “Yesterday, communicating in dreams seemed like science fiction. Tomorrow, it will be so common we won’t be able to imagine our lives without this technology.”
Raduga believes that communication through dreams could become the next big thing, potentially even rivaling artificial intelligence in terms of impact. He envisions a future where real-time communication through lucid dreaming could transform industries and change how we think about interacting with each other.
This success opens up new possibilities in both scientific research and commercial applications. Dream communication could lead to new tools for therapy, education, or even entertainment. What was once considered a sci-fi idea is now on the verge of becoming a reality, and REMspace is at the forefront of making it happen.
