Lumion has introduced Lumion 2024.0, the latest iteration of its advanced real-time visualization software, which stands as a milestone in architectural visualization technology. Known for its intuitive interface and the ability to generate renders of architectural scenes in near-real time, Lumion is committed to democratizing sophisticated visualization for architects with little background in the discipline.
This newest version brings substantial improvements to the speed and quality of ray-traced renders. It builds on the hybrid ray tracing/rasterization render engine from Lumion 2023.0 with key updates that include a new temporal denoiser for Preview and Movie modes, reducing graininess and enhancing detail. Support for ray-traced subsurface scattering further adds to the realism possible with Lumion, enabling more lifelike materials. Moreover, the integration of over 2,200 nature items and materials like glass and translucent objects for ray tracing underscores the vast possibilities for creating detailed and immersive environments.
Lumion 2024.0 also marks a significant step forward in rendering speed, thanks to the implementation of a new Multiple Importance Sampling (MIS) algorithm. This development promises to make ray-traced video rendering up to five times faster, a breakthrough that substantially reduces the time needed to produce high-quality animations.
Beyond these technical enhancements, Lumion 2024.0 introduces a range of new features and workflow improvements. A notable addition is the landscape tiling system, allowing users to minimize visible repeats in environment textures, thus achieving more natural-looking scenes. Workflow is further streamlined with a new vertical sidebar to maximize screen space, grid overlays for easier scene composition, and eight new preset render styles for added creative flexibility. The software's pipeline has been expanded to support the import of assets in glTF format and batch file importing, enhancing its compatibility and ease of use with other tools and resources.
The update also enriches Lumion's extensive asset library with 300 new additions, including 100 plants and trees, 45 static characters, and 25 parallax interiors, offering even more options for scene dressing and detail.
Since its debut in 2010, Lumion has rapidly become one of the leading solutions for architectural visualization, simplifying the creation of realistic stills and animations. It offers an accessible alternative to traditional DCC applications, enabling architects and designers to import building models in various 3D formats or via direct links to major CAD applications. With this update, Lumion reinforces its role as an essential tool for professionals seeking to convey their architectural visions with clarity, speed, and realism.
Lumion 2024.0 is compatible with Windows 10 and later versions, available solely on a rental basis. The subscription pricing is set at $749/year for the standard edition and $1,499/year for the Pro edition, reflecting its value to professionals in bringing architectural concepts to life with unmatched quality and efficiency. With Lumion 2024.0, the company continues to lower the barriers to high-quality architectural visualization, offering an innovative solution that transforms how architects and designers present and develop their projects.
