Previously known as OpenPype, Ayon stands as the foundational backbone for production pipelines, intelligently connecting a studio's digital content creation (DCC) tools, version tracking, and project management into a unified and cohesive system. The platform has been in development for an impressive five years, evolving from its origins as Pype, the in-house production platform of a boutique Czechian creative studio.

Ayon, used in production on music videos and animated series, has undergone several name changes, reflecting its journey from Pype to OpenPype and, finally, to Ayon.

This versatile platform serves as a central hub, seamlessly connecting a studio's existing production tools into a coherent pipeline. Through a user-friendly web-based dashboard, Ayon users gain the ability to effortlessly track assigned artists, manage versioning and approvals for shots, and obtain a visual overview of the entire project's progress.

Ayon boasts integration capabilities with major CG applications, including 3ds Max, Blender, Houdini, Maya, and Substance 3D products. Ayon 1.0 is accessible for free as a local installation, providing users with the freedom to explore its capabilities. The source code is available to users under the open-source Apache 2.0 license, providing freedom and flexibility for exploration and customization of Ayon 1.0 according to individual preferences. Additionally, Ayon integrates smoothly with 2D animation software like Toon Boom Harmony and TVPaint. For production tracking, the platform collaborates seamlessly with ftrack Studio, ShotGrid, and Kitsu.

Designed with artists in mind, Ayon provides pre-configured pipelines for 2D animation, 3D animation, or VFX projects. However, for studios with dedicated technical staff, Ayon offers the flexibility to customize the platform through its RESTful API, supporting Python and GraphQL.

While Ayon has been publicly available for almost a year, Ayon 1.0 is the first official production-ready release. It is not only deploya

ble on Windows, Linux, and macOS but is also available via Ynput Cloud, a new cloud-hosting platform. This cloud service is tailored for studios seeking to streamline their operations by avoiding the complexities of managing their hardware infrastructure.

Ayon effortlessly integrates with popular compositing and editing tools like After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and Nuke, ensuring a seamless workflow for creative professionals. Ynput monetizes through services and paid add-ons, ensuring ongoing support and enhancements for this revolutionary open-source pipeline solution.

With Ayon 1.0, Ynput sets a new standard in the industry, providing a versatile and customizable solution that caters to both emerging studios and seasoned professionals. This release signifies a leap forward in the evolution of VFX and animation pipelines, promising increased efficiency, collaboration, and creative freedom for studios worldwide.‍
