Explore the latest beta of Adobe After Effects, now with the ability to import and animate 3D models, enhancing creative workflows and visual effects capabilities.
Big news for After Effects users! Adobe just dropped a beta update that’s pretty much a game changer for anyone into video editing and animation. Now, you can import and animate 3D models right inside After Effects.
What’s super cool about this update? For starters, you can now bring animated characters to life within your projects. That's right—those 3D models, including dynamic characters, can be directly imported into After Effects. This is perfect for creating more complex visual effects that really pop. Just keep in mind, this feature works with glTF and GLB formats, so make sure your files match up.
But there's more than just 3D modeling. Adobe has also made it easier to manage keyframes. Before, if you wanted to copy and paste keyframes across multiple layers, you'd need to rely on third-party scripts. Not anymore. With this update, you can select keyframes, decide where to drop them on your timeline, and even reverse them to create loops right from the get-go. This is a huge time-saver and lets you tweak your animations to perfection without all the hassle.
And let’s talk about the user interface—it’s gotten a serious facelift. Adobe’s Spectrum 2 design system brings a cleaner, more user-friendly interface. Switching between light and dark modes is straightforward, directly from the settings. They’ve even added a new feature to adjust the tonal contrasts, making it easier on the eyes, which is a blessing during those long editing sessions.
So, how do you try this? The beta version is up for grabs for all Adobe Creative Cloud subscribers. . After Effects 24.3 supports Windows 10 and up, and macOS 12.0 and higher, and it’s available through a subscription model—$34.49 a month or $263.88 for the whole year.
Adobe’s really stepping up their game with this release, pushing the boundaries of what After Effects can do. Adding 3D models into the mix opens up a whole new world of possibilities for animators and VFX artists. It’s about making your animations richer, your storytelling more engaging, and your projects stand out with stunning detail and depth
